Hacker Puts 200 Million Yahoo Accounts For Sale On Dark Web
Account data leak happen enough and hit many celebrities. However, a new information theft is putting at risk the integrity of the privacy of 200 million users, since a hacker known as peace_of_mind, claims to have gained access to login information from 200 million Yahoo accounts.
Now Yahoo users may want to change their passwords but the hacker claims that it holds login information of 200 million Yahoo accounts and selling the package in the black market as I mentioned earlier.
The hacker peace_of_mind already claimed to have other LinkedIn, Tumblr and MySpace user credentials in the past. As the hacker peace_of_mind said in a statement that, in the case of Yahoo accounts, the database probably comes from the year 2012, it is the same year when Marissa Mayer became Yahoo’s CEO. The credentials which were stolen even have been bought said the hacker.
Furthermore, a foreign site contacted Yahoo for the more information and received the following reply:-
“We are committed to protecting the security of our users’ information and we take such claim very seriously. Our security team is working to determine the facts…we always encourage our users to create strong passwords, or give up passwords altogether by using Yahoo Account Key, and use different passwords for different platforms.”
According to the website, among the leaked data included the anniversary date, username, password, and in some cases even the backup used by the user email and this is not the first time that Yahoo’s security was achieved. So, if you have an email from Yahoo, we strongly recommend and suggest you to change your current password to avoid complications.
