Android Users More Honest & Humble Than iPhone Users
Recently a study revealed that Android smartphone owners are more honest and down to earth compared to iPhone users. The main reason behind this might be iPhone users consider their devices to be a status symbol to flaunt it more aggressively than Android users.
Of course, iPhone is far more expensive if compared to Android smartphones. However, it was the first time a study has revealed that Android smartphone owners are more honest and down to earth compared to iPhone users.
A group of scientists from the University of Psychology of Lincoln, California, led by Heather Shaw, conducted two studies among users of iPhone and Android smartphones. The study shows that women were twice more prone to own an iPhone than an Android phone.
Heather Shaw said, “This study provides new insights into personality differences between different types of smartphone users”. “Smartphone choice is the most basic level of smartphone personalization, and even this can tell us a lot about the user”
Researchers also described the studies of personality differences between iPhone and Android Smartphone users and conducted two stages of the studies. In the first study, researchers asked 240 participants to complete a survey about the characteristics they associate with users of each smartphone brand.
In the second study, researchers tested these stereotypes against the personality traits of 530 smartphone users.
The first study shows the surprising results and found that users of the Android phone’s appeared to have higher levels of honesty and humility, kindness and openness but are less extroverted than users of Apple devices.
The second study shows that honesty and humility were found in greater amounts within Android users and most of the personality stereotypes didn’t occur in reality. The researchers also found that women were twice more likely to own an iPhone than an Android phone
While determining the characteristic “Avoidance of similarity” Android users evaded similarity more that iPhone users and iPhone users preferred it was more important to have a high-status phone.
Heather Shaw said “It is becoming more and more apparent that smartphones are becoming a mini digital version of the user, and many of us don’t like it when other people use our phones because it can reveal so much about us”
