Apple Store Staff Sacked For Sharing Customers ‘Intimate’ Pictures

Currently for the brands, one of the largest battles they are facing is to prove that their customer’s data is safe whether it is in online or offline.
Recently, a group of workers at an Apple Store were caught sharing the photos and other sensitive data from employees and customers.
As we all know that the brand like Apple has a strong stake in keeping data protected users against various threats, especially online. But what about when the threats come from within?
Recently, the tech giant Apple launched an investigation to determine an incident recorded in Apple’s Australian Store, where a group of employees were found one of the employees involved browsing a customer’s iPhone in the repair room. However, the Carindale Apple Store in Queensland then brought in an HR executive from overseas to investigate the issue.
The images collected from non-consensual way were later shared in a chat group created by the members for fun. In total, it is estimated to have been stolen over 100 images, with some to have some explicit content.
The suspect left the other workers, the external sharing group, which started some strange actions of these workers as prolonged analysis of some repair device.
Since this is a violation of the Apple’s Business Conduct Policy, the American company is working with its human resources to assess the situation and reiterates that this behavior is unacceptable by these workers. Although the direction of the Australian store did not make public the names of the employees involved, according to some information it is known that four workers have been even fired.
Here is the Apple’s full statement regarding this incident:-
“We are investigating a violation of Apple’s business conduct policy at our store in Carindale, where several employees have already been terminated as a result of our findings.
Based on our investigation thus far, we have seen no evidence that customer data or photos were inappropriately transferred or that anyone was photographed by these former employees. We have met with our store team to let them know about the investigation and inform them about the steps Apple is taking to protect their privacy.
Apple believes in treating everyone equally and with respect, and we do not tolerate behaviour that goes against our values.”
Although it is expected that these situations are exceptional and one-off, it is recommended that whenever your device delivered for repair or warranty, you should do a factory restore to delete all of your accounts and personal data.
